A shooting at a Texarkana-area industrial facility parking lot left two men dead and a woman critically injured Tuesday morning, according to authorities. The incident, which occurred at Texarkana Aluminum on Alumax Drive in Nash, Texas, has left the local community in shock and mourning.
Officials say Nash Police responded around 6:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire and discovered two deceased men and one critically injured woman at the scene. Investigators later confirmed the case was domestic-related.
Authorities identified 40-year-old Wendell Lane Champion Jr. of Hope, Arkansas, as the suspect. Police report that the incident began as a domestic dispute involving Champion and his wife, 37-year-old Candis Jolene Champion, who works at the facility.
During the confrontation, 48-year-old Eddie Ray Hill Jr. of Texarkana, Texas, was fatally shot after reportedly attempting to intervene upon arriving for work. He died at the scene.
Investigators stated that the suspect then shot his wife, critically injuring her, before turning the weapon on himself. Candis Champion was transported to a hospital in Texarkana, where she remains in stable condition.
Public records show the suspect previously served time for a 2007 first-degree murder conviction in Harris County, Texas, and had been released on parole in 2025.
