The Riviera Beach community is mourning the devastating loss of 16-year-old Toryann McFarlane, who tragically died in a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 95 early Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred shortly after midnight in the northbound lanes near the Blue Heron Boulevard exit. Investigators said McFarlane was driving a Nissan Altima when she lost control of the vehicle for reasons still under investigation.
Authorities reported that the car struck a guardrail and concrete barrier before re-entering the roadway and coming to a stop in a travel lane.
After exiting the vehicle and leaning into the back seat area, Toryann McFarlane was struck when another northbound vehicle collided with the disabled car. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that additional vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction crash, and one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The tragedy has left family members, classmates, teachers, and friends in deep grief, especially as Toryann had recently celebrated her graduation from Inlet Grove Community High School just days before the crash.
