Jason Davis Death, Obituary: 53-Year-Old Ladysmith Man Dies in Early Morning Highway 8 Crash
The communities of Ladysmith and Rusk County, Wisconsin are mourning the sudden loss of 53-year-old Jason Davis, who died early Tuesday morning in a devastating single-vehicle crash on Highway 8 near Bell School Road.
According to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. on May 12, 2026, after dispatch received a 911 call reporting a serious accident in the area.
When deputies arrived, they found a heavily damaged pickup truck that had left the roadway, crossed the centerline, entered a ditch, and struck a driveway culvert. The impact reportedly caused the vehicle to become airborne before it collided with a power pole.
Emergency responders worked urgently to reach the driver, who was trapped inside the wreckage. Deputies initially attempted to break windows to access the vehicle, but due to the severity of the damage, firefighters from the Ladysmith Fire Department were required to assist with extrication efforts.
Despite the rapid response, Jason Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The response included Ladysmith Ambulance and the Rusk County Medical Examiner’s Office, who assisted in documenting the scene and supporting the ongoing investigation. Sheriff Phil Grassman stated that officials are still working to determine all contributing factors in the crash.
Beyond the incident itself, loved ones are remembering Jason Davis as a valued member of the Ladysmith community whose life extended far beyond the tragic circumstances of that morning. At 53, he was described as someone who built strong relationships and meaningful connections within his family and community.
Friends and neighbors are now grieving his sudden passing, reflecting on the unpredictability of life and the deep impact such losses have in close-knit communities where everyone is connected in some way.
As Ladysmith mourns, Jason Davis is being remembered not only for how he died, but for the life he lived, the memories he created, and the presence he had in the lives of those who knew him.
